This exciting orchestra is well known for its strong commitment to the community as well as for its accessible concerts with\u00a0popular\u00a0music both old and new being\u00a0performed.<\/p>\n<p>The friendly orchestra, which\u00a0is formed by both professional and good\u00a0standard\u00a0amateur players, with many guest\u00a0soloists\u00a0is now looking to include even more members to join them!<\/p>\n<p>Having prepared well to avoid any risks caused by the covid pandemic, the Hastings Sinfonia is ready to restart rehearsals Wednesday evenings at St John\u2019s in Pevensey Road very soon.<\/p>\n<p>The Sinfonia was founded in 2012 by local composer Polo Piatti who remains as its Artistic Director and has been conducted for most of the time since by London maestro Derek Carden, who travels regularly to Hastings from London to hold rehearsals every week.<\/p>\n<p>And there is some more exciting news! Due to the pandemic\u2019s lockdown, the Sinfonia had to remain silent and unable to rehearse for over a year.\u00a0Nevertheless, always inventive, the organisation has\u00a0managed to create one very positive outcome from the situation. Lead by\u00a0David Bottom,\u00a0one of their clarinettists, they have formed a\u00a0brand new, associated ensemble, the &#8216;Hastings\u00a0Sinfonia\u00a0Wind Quintet\u2019.\u00a0 They started playing together on zoom and then together when Covid rules permitted. Other members of the\u00a0new ensemble are\u00a0Annabel Noton (flute), Gail Taylor\u00a0(oboe),\u00a0Adam Rawlinson (bassoon) and\u00a0Tim Egan (French horn).
