This, their third performance, at St \u00a0John\u2019s, was supported by a large appreciative audience. \u00a0\u00a0Their appeal and fan club is obviously growing.<\/p>\n<p>Steve Corke and Stephen Page presented a wide variety of music and song, which not only showed off their talents, but entertained all.\u00a0 We had music and songs from Bach to Flanders and Swann; songs from musicals such as <em>Fiddler on the Roof,<\/em> <em>Oliver,<\/em> <em>Jekyll and Hyde<\/em> and <em>Jesus Christ Super Star, <\/em>and Steve Corke\u2019s rich but gentle baritone paid great tribute to Matt Munro.\u00a0 Stephen Page played piano and organ with great virtuosity and expertise. He announced that he wanted to \u2018present the different sides to an organ\u2019, and so he did. We heard\u00a0 Bachs,\u2019<em>Fantasy in G minor\u2019<\/em> and \u2018<em>Blaze Away<\/em>\u2019 and much more played expertly. \u00a0He did great justice to the piano also. His playing of \u2018Autumn\u2019, a reflective and melodic piece was quite haunting.<\/p>\n<p>Many items were humorous particularly Steve\u2019s organ accompaniment to Stephens\u2019 piano, several of their duets, and Stephen\u2019s piano playing of <em>Dance of Three Old Ladies<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>It was a richly varied and highly imaginative programme.<\/p>\n<p>Part of the evening\u2019s entertainment, and such is the attraction of this duo, was to have the programme cryptic; thus an item entitled <em>Organ with a Twist<\/em> was an <em>Oliver<\/em> medley and <em>A filthy Number<\/em> \u00a0was <em>Mud, Mud, Glorious Mud<\/em>. It was a delightful mixture of popular and lesser known pieces presented in a relaxed and friendly style.\u00a0 It was all very good. Thank You!
