Concerts, talks and study days will explore life, death and the mysterious areas between and beyond, with other events including live magic, a film screening, a ghost trail and more.<\/p>\n<p>World-leading singers appearing at the Festival include <strong>Louise Alder <\/strong>and<strong> Nikolay Borchev <\/strong>(26 Oct), <strong>Ilker Arcay\u00fcrek <\/strong>(25 Oct), <strong>Benjamin Appl <\/strong>(20 Oct), <strong>Katherine Broderick <\/strong>and <strong>Marcus Farnsworth\u00a0 <\/strong>(17 Oct), <strong>St\u00e9phane Degout <\/strong>(12 Oct),<strong> Tara Erraught <\/strong>(13 Oct),<strong>\u00a0 Maria Forsstr\u00f6m <\/strong>(16 Oct)<strong>, James Gilchrist <\/strong>(19 Oct),<strong> Ben Johnson <\/strong>(15 Oct),<strong> Sophie Kartha\u00fcser <\/strong>and<strong> Stephan Loges <\/strong>(22 Oct)<strong>, Thomas Oliemans <\/strong>(15 Oct)<strong>,\u00a0 Christoph Pr\u00e9gardien <\/strong>(13 Oct),<strong> Dorothea R\u00f6schmann <\/strong>(25 Oct), <strong>Katharina Ruckgaber <\/strong>and<strong> Ashley Riches <\/strong>(14 Oct)<strong> , Carolyn Sampson <\/strong>(24 Oct)<strong> , Kitty Whately <\/strong>(18 Oct) and others, alongside pianists including<strong> Eugene Asti, Christopher Glynn, Matti Hirvonen, Hartmut H\u00f6ll, Simon Lepper, Graham Johnson, Sholto Kynoch, Malcolm Martineau, C\u00e9dric Tib\u00e9rghien, Anna Tilbrook <\/strong>and<strong> Roger Vignoles<\/strong>. Many of the most exciting young emerging artists also appear.<\/p>\n<p>The opening-night concert will be given by the <strong>BBC National Orchestra of Wales<\/strong>, with <strong>Camilla Tilling <\/strong>and<strong> Neal Davies <\/strong>(11 Oct) performing orchestral songs by Schubert and Grieg. <strong>Roderick Williams <\/strong>will be in residence for five days (from 19 Oct) to perform Schubert\u2019s three song cycles in the sparkling English translations by <strong>Jeremy Sams<\/strong>. There will be two world premieres from newly-appointed Associate Composer <strong>Cheryl Frances-Hoad<\/strong>, including a cycle of songs for soprano and string quartet, <em>Endless Forms Most Beautiful<\/em> (18 Oct). Other works of hers will feature throughout the Festival, as well as new commissions from composers <strong>Martin Suckling<\/strong> (19 Oct) and <strong>Ross Griffey <\/strong>(21 Oct). Chamber music concerts include the<strong> Albion <\/strong>(21 Oct),<strong> Brodsky <\/strong>(20 Oct),<strong> Doric <\/strong>(15 Oct) and<strong> Gildas Quartets <\/strong>(18 Oct), the<strong> Phoenix Piano Trio <\/strong>(16 Oct) , and pianists, <strong>Imogen Cooper <\/strong>(19 Oct<strong>)<\/strong>, <strong>Ivana Gavri? <\/strong>(13 Oct), <strong>Charles Owen<\/strong> and <strong>Katya Apekisheva<\/strong> (24 &amp; 25 Oct) and <strong>Martin Sturf\u00e4lt <\/strong>(14 Oct).
