The Grand Tour – A<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0European Journey in Song<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The seventeenth\u00a0Oxford Lieder Festival<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(12-27 October 2018) will celebrate a rich tapestry of music, words and performance in European song and will showcase the pinnacles of the repertoire while exploring wider cultural influences.<\/p>\n

International stars including\u00a0Louise Alder<\/strong>,\u00a0Sarah Connolly<\/strong>,\u00a0V\u00e9ronique Gens<\/strong>,\u00a0James Gilchrist<\/strong>,\u00a0Thomas Oliemans<\/strong>,\u00a0Christoph Pr\u00e9gardien<\/strong>,\u00a0Kai R\u00fc\u00fctel<\/strong>,\u00a0Carolyn Sampson<\/strong>,\u00a0Toby Spence<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Camilla Tilling<\/strong>, together with prize-winning young artists, take part in a wide range of concerts and related events.<\/p>\n

Sholto Kynoch<\/strong>, founder and Artistic Director of the Festival, has just been\u00a0been elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music in the Academy\u2019s 2018 Honours.<\/p>\n

NEW COLLABORATION WITH THE BODLEIAN LIBRARY<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In a new collaboration with the Bodleian Library, Oxford Lieder is co-hosting the Albi Rosenthal Fellowship: a three-month residency at the Bodleian, this year specifically for a composer. American composer\u00a0Ross S. Griffey\u00a0<\/strong>has been appointed and, as well as his residency at the Bodleian Library, in October he will lead a composition workshop at the Oxford Lieder Festival and give a talk on his research, with some of his existing work being heard. Following the residency, Oxford Lieder will commission a major new cycle \u2013 based on his research in the Bodleian \u2013 to be premiered at the 2019 Festival.<\/p>\n

OXFORD LIEDER YOUNG ARTIST PLATFORM WINNERS<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Oxford Lieder presents other events throughout the year, including a Spring Weekend of Song, as well as recitals across the country through the\u00a0Oxford Lieder<\/strong>Young Artist Platform<\/strong>. Exceptional young professional duos apply for the Young Artist Platform, and this year\u2019s winners \u2013 selected through 45-minute audition recitals at the Spring Weekend \u2013 are:\u00a0Harriet Burns\u00a0<\/strong>(soprano) and\u00a0Michael Pandya\u00a0<\/strong>(piano) and\u00a0Jessica Dandy\u00a0<\/strong>(contralto) and\u00a0Dylan Perez\u00a0<\/strong>(piano). They give a series of recitals in music clubs, societies and festivals nationally, as well as showcase recitals at the Festival in October.<\/p>\n
