{"id":3984,"date":"2017-12-09T11:13:26","date_gmt":"2017-12-09T11:13:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.larkreviews.co.uk\/?p=3984"},"modified":"2017-12-09T11:13:26","modified_gmt":"2017-12-09T11:13:26","slug":"tenors-un-limited","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.larkreviews.wickedlemon.co.uk\/?p=3984","title":{"rendered":"Tenors Un Limited"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Opus Theatre, Friday 8<sup>th<\/sup> December 2017<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Tenors Un Limited<\/em> drew a full house to Opus Theatre, no doubt aided by the inclusion of Guestling-Bradshaw CE Primary School Choir. The combination of familiar Christmas music and popular light-classical numbers proved to be a winning combination. When <em>Volare<\/em> is crooned so effortlessly to the front row it surely can\u2019t fail.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.larkreviews.wickedlemon.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/tenors-unlimited.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3947\" src=\"https:\/\/www.larkreviews.wickedlemon.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/tenors-unlimited.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"290\" height=\"174\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Many of the songs were drawn from their recent album <em>The Journey<\/em> including fine versions of <em>La Mer<\/em> and <em>Senza di Te<\/em> written by Scott Ciscon \u2013 one of the Tenors Un Limited on stage.<\/p>\n<p>The children\u2019s choir sang <em>Angels\u2019 watching over me <\/em>angelically, and were then joined by the tenors for <em>You raise me up. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Tenors UnLimited have a strong relationship with charities and they sang their most recent single \u2013 <em>Who is he? \u2013<\/em> \u00a0which is now top of the classical charts.<\/p>\n<p>After the interval we heard <em>Fragile<\/em>, Lucia Dalla\u2019s <em>Caruso<\/em> and <em>Moon River, <\/em>before launching into a carols for all and a rousing version of <em>Nessun dorma. <\/em>The official part of the evening was rounded off with <em>The Twelve Days of Christmas<\/em> complete with wonderfully appropriate actions from the children.<\/p>\n<p>An encore was of course essential and they raised the roof with their own version of <em>Largo al factotum.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Two minor caveats. The lighting proved confusing at times, with the often lurid coloured uplights creating strange effects on the singers faces. More importantly, in a venue with such fine acoustics why did they need amplification? It was all the more telling when one small boy in the choir sang unaided and could be heard perfectly.
