The season opener on Sunday 8<sup>th<\/sup> October features works by the greatest masters of Romanticism \u2013 Schumann, Tchaikovsky &amp; Brahms. The orchestra, under Conductor Laureate Barry Wordsworth, is joined by exciting young Romanian pianist Alexandra Dariescu playing Tchaikovsky\u2019s popular <em>Piano Concerto No.1,<\/em> a wonderful piece full of intense melody, surging power and quiet introspection.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.larkreviews.wickedlemon.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Dariescu-Alexandra_by-Adrian-Stoicoviciu12.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3821\" src=\"https:\/\/www.larkreviews.wickedlemon.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Dariescu-Alexandra_by-Adrian-Stoicoviciu12.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"449\" height=\"673\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.larkreviews.wickedlemon.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Dariescu-Alexandra_by-Adrian-Stoicoviciu12.jpg 449w, https:\/\/www.larkreviews.wickedlemon.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Dariescu-Alexandra_by-Adrian-Stoicoviciu12-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 449px) 100vw, 449px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Alexandra was recently named as \u201cone of 30 pianists under 30 destined for a spectacular career\u201d by <em>International Piano Magazine<\/em> and her most recent CD is of this piano concerto and well worth a listen. Alexandra is also a keen cyclist and in June she completed the London to Brighton Bike Ride on a custom built bicycle made for two. She will be arriving by train for the concert though!<\/p>\n<p>The programme also includes Brahms\u2019 lyrical <em>Symphony No.3<\/em> which charts a musical journey from turbulence to tranquillity and has a reputation as one of his most artistically perfect works.
