{"id":2632,"date":"2015-11-06T16:57:13","date_gmt":"2015-11-06T16:57:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.larkreviews.co.uk\/?p=2632"},"modified":"2015-11-06T16:57:13","modified_gmt":"2015-11-06T16:57:13","slug":"roxanna-panufnik-commissioned-to-write-opera","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.larkreviews.wickedlemon.co.uk\/?p=2632","title":{"rendered":"ROXANNA PANUFNIK COMMISSIONED TO WRITE OPERA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Garsington Opera<\/span> has commissioned a \u2018people\u2019s opera\u2019,\u00a0<i>Silver Birch<\/i>, designed to be performed by professional singers together with community and children\u2019s choruses aged 8 upwards.\u00a0\u00a0 A dynamic creative team has been engaged to create the 70-minute opera including\u00a0Roxanna Panufnik\u00a0(composer),\u00a0Jessica Duchen\u00a0(librettist),Karen Gillingham\u00a0(director) and\u00a0Douglas Boyd\u00a0(conductor).\u00a0 The work aims to appeal to the broadest audience of all ages and levels of opera experience<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.larkreviews.wickedlemon.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Roxanna-Panufnik.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2633\" alt=\"Roxanna Panufnik\" src=\"https:\/\/www.larkreviews.wickedlemon.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Roxanna-Panufnik.jpg\" width=\"225\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.larkreviews.wickedlemon.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Roxanna-Panufnik.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.larkreviews.wickedlemon.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Roxanna-Panufnik-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>During the 2017 season the \u2018people\u2019s opera\u2019, which is part of Garsington Opera\u2019s Learning &amp; Participation programme, will be performed on the main stage following on from the successful community opera mounted in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Recruitment of the 150 participants has already begun in local schools and community centres.\u00a0 Devising workshops took place in which schoolchildren and members of the local population joined the creative team to explore the theme of war and its universal impact on families, as well as the significance to them of World War 1.
