Chief Conductor\u00a0<b>David Hill<\/b>\u00a0leads two concerts in the series, firstly with soloist\u00a0<b>Jennifer Johnston<\/b>\u00a0and the ensemble\u00a0<b>Endymion<\/b>\u00a0(October 15) in an American programme including Steve Reich\u2019s\u00a0<i>The Desert Music<\/i>; then for Richard Strauss\u2019s\u00a0<i>Deutsche Motette<\/i>\u00a0(7 April) performed in the 150<span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span>\u00a0anniversary of Strauss\u2019 birth.\u00a0 Four accomplished soloists star in Rossini\u2019s operatic\u00a0<i>Petite Messe Solennelle<\/i>\u00a0(4 February), including soprano\u00a0<b>Ruby Hughes<\/b>\u00a0and mezzo soprano\u00a0<b>Clara Mouriz<\/b>, conducted by\u00a0<b>Paul Brough<\/b>. The BBC Singers join forces with charismatic composer-conductor\u00a0<b>Eric Whitacre<\/b>\u00a0(10 June), who curates a concert of his own choral music alongside works by\u00a0<b>Bob Chilcott<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0<b>Morten Lauridsen,<\/b>\u00a0with guest artists\u00a0<b>The King\u2019s Singers<\/b><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman';\">.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: small; color: #0000ff;\"><b>Handel\u2019s\u00a0<\/b><b><i>Messiah<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: small;\">Chief Conductor\u00a0<b>David Hill<\/b>\u00a0conducts the BBC Singers, St James\u2019s Baroque and a team of young soloists including\u00a0<b>Ruby Hughes<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0<span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><b>Robin Tritschler<\/b><\/span>\u00a0in Handel\u2019s\u00a0<i>Messiah\u00a0<\/i>(20 December)<i>\u00a0<\/i>in the atmospheric Temple Church \u2013 the concluding event of Radio 3\u2019s week of Christmas concerts from this London landmark.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: small;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: small; color: #0000ff;\">Total Immersion<\/span><\/div>\n<div align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">The BBC Singers take part in the BBC Symphony Orchestra\u2019s series of Total Immersion days; full days of concerts, talks and events. A celebration of distinguished Scottish composer\u00a0<b>Thea Musgrave\u00a0<\/b>in her 85<span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span>\u00a0year will include a performance of her choral works conducted by\u00a0<b>Paul Brough<\/b>, ranging from the setting of medieval Scottish words\u00a0<i>Rorate coeli<\/i>, to her interpretation of verse from\u00a0<i>Poems On The Underground<\/i>\u00a0(15 February). In contrast, on 8 March Brazil\u2019s most famous composer,\u00a0<b>Heitor Villa-Lobos,<\/b>\u00a0will get the Total Immersion treatment, including a concert of his choral music rarely heard outside his native country, directed by Brazilian conductor\u00a0<b>Celso Antunes<\/b>.<\/span><\/div>\n<div align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: small; color: #0000ff;\"><b>C.P.E. Bach\u00a0<\/b><b><i>St John Passion<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: small;\">In a special Easter concert (16 April), the BBC Singers help bring back to life the 1784\u00a0<i>St John Passion<\/i>\u00a0by C.P.E. Bach, long thought lost until its re-discovery a few years ago in a Ukrainian library. In the year marking the 300th anniversary of C.P.E.
